Asseco partners up with the “HackYeah” hackathon

The “CoronaTravel” app won in the “Safe Travel” category at “HackYeah Online powered by GovTech.” The authors of the project received a prize of €10,000, funded by Asseco. The virtual edition of this largest stationary hackathon in Europe brought together more than a thousand programmers. One of the organizers of the event was the GovTech Poland program, which was developed by the Prime Minister’s Office.

“HackYeah” hackathons are an initiative through which creative programmers, UX specialists or analysts can create innovative solutions that later have the chance to be further developed and used on a large scale.

In the June edition of the hackathon, individual participants and teams of up to 6 people, supported by more than 100 mentors and judges, worked on solutions in response to, among other things, the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

Asseco has been supporting the development of Polish programmers both at home and abroad for years. “We are, among other things, the organizer of the hackathon and the author of the Asseco Starter program, under which we offer students and graduates the opportunity to develop at Asseco along three didactic paths (programming, analytics and testing),” said Artur Wiza, Vice President of the Management Board, Asseco Poland. “ “We are also happy to support additional initiatives especially if their purpose is to seek solutions to current social or business issues,” he added.

In the “Safe Travel” category, in which the prize was funded by Asseco, the winner was the “CoronaTravel” application. It informs users about current regulations related to the coronavirus pandemic in their home country, as well as in the countries they travel to.
